For The Love of Beads BlogThe adventures of Suzanne, Nibbler, and friends in the world of beads and jewelry making crafts

Hello! My name is Antonio and I have been invited to work on this wonderful web site. I am from Mexico and I have worked, along with my wife, as an artisan for many years. We have worked with many different crafting materials and let me tell you, beading has just been the most fun. It’s more than a simple job and a way of living. It´s like a game and we enjoy playing with colors, shapes and styles a lot.

Over the years we have seen beading reach new levels of creativity and have seen how exited people are about designing and developing new forms. Nowadays, you can find a great deal of variety in merchandise and part of our job is to offer you, through For the Love of Beads, the fantastic designs we find in Mexico.

The way I see it, beading is not just a hobby; it´s an opportunity to find your inner artist, just like how my wife and I have found ours. We have met people who have found their true calling in beading and had given up their day jobs. From experience, we can say that you don´t need to have special skills to get started. We found our interest in beading by accident, but once we realized just how much fun beading was we devoted all our time to it. The only thing you need to get started is the will to spend a little bit of free time and to just go wild at it. Also please, don´t be afraid to make and wear some gaudy flamboyant designs; the important thing is that you find your own style.

We have seen how some other guys had just copied our models and you could plainly see how theirs were just lacking. We are not saying we are better than others but we have stuck to making originals. So one piece of advice, NEVER copy another persons style. That does not mean that you can’t borrow some elements from others. Just make sure to leave your own personal touches in your creations.

We had in the past left the beading art scene for a couple of years because we wanted to see the world, although we only got as far as Phoenix, USA the experience was good enough to learn some English. So now we can share with you all our expertise, and in the near future the new designs we have in mind.

At same time we want to know about you, so please let us have your valuable opinions.

I agree completely about the importance of originality and finding one’s own style, or “voice.” I am also so happy that you have found yours here, and I look forward to hearing more from you in the future!

    Hola,Antonio !
I’ve just joined this great group, and like others I make my own original jewelry, haven’t sold any yet, but considering it very seriously!!

Very partial to semi-precious stones & sterling silver. I’ve been doing it for @ least 5 years & get lots of compliments as well as “where did you buy it ?
So friends my question is “should I start selling my handmade, original jewelry ?
    Ayuda, please.
    Sincerely,
    Carmelita from Arizona.
