Hello again! I have been keeping super busy with school lately but I’ve also been experimenting a bit more with chainmaille and have come up with a few pieces of which I am rather fond. Although, my favorite creation has not been a piece of jewelry but rather something to put jewelry on!
After browsing around some forums for awhile, I saw a number of fellow craftsters had made themselves these fantastic frames on which to hang jewelry, mostly earrings. Having recently made myself several pairs of chainmaille earrings, this seemed like the perfect rainy afternoon project so I quickly set to work.
Materials
- picture frame
- ribbon or cord (or hooks if you are so inclined)
- fabric for background
I choose a relatively inexpensive frame that I had lying around and took out the piece of glass before rooting through some scraps of cloth for a background. Many variations on this project use small hooks to hang the earrings but since I was trying to do this with stuff I already had around the house (it can be quite a fun challenge to make something creative with odds and ends from other projects and no new materials!), I went with a couple pieces of ribbon. The ribbon I decided on is My Little Pony ribbons I wore in my hair as a child.
Cutting the fabric to shape and taping it around the piece of cardboard from the frame, I tested the fit before adding the ribbons. Once it was all assembled, I hung my new earrings on it and:
voila!

A super easy, completely personalize-able way to display your favorite earrings, whether you made them yourself or just like showing them off! (To make your own flower earrings, check out my first chainmaille tutorial.)
Now I gotta get back to philosophizing (aka doing readings for university), so take care and happy crafting!

I always got great results using frames for my displays. Here’s a few tips I learned by trial and error…
Use a solid color as the background, that way it’s easier to see the earrings. You can use a patterned ribbon if you want, or a contrasting color to your background.
Use a piece of foam core as your backing behind the fabric. You can use pins and display necklaces, bracelets, anklets, or whatever in your frame. The foam core will hold your pins better than cardboard.
